Curfew in held Kashmir on Indian PM visit
SRINAGAR: Kashmiri people are observing civil curfew in held Kashmir in protest against visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the valley.
According to Kashmir Media Service, civil curfew is in force in occupied Kashmir against visit by Indian Prime Minister and people are restricted to their homes.
Kashmir Media Service said that call for civil curfew was given by Jammu Kashmir Rabita Committee and was aimed at giving a clear message to India that Kashmiri people reject Kashmir’’s policies of Indian government.
Shops, schools and offices were closed in Srinagar in line with a strike call from a JKRC that has spearheaded a resurgence of mass protests against Indian rule in the Kashmir Valley. The traffic remained off the roads in all towns and cities including Srinagar.
Indian troops patrolled the Kashmir’’s streets.
Meanwhile, the local administration enforced curfew in Srinagar and adjoining areas.
On the other hand, trade delegation of Azad Jammu and Kashmir called on Chairman All Parties Hurriat Conference Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Senior Hurriat leader Syed Ali Gilani.
