Nadal, Federer, Murray, Simon in Madrid Masters Tennis semis

MADRID: World number one Rafael Nadal, Swiss player Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Gilles Simon qualified for the semi-finals of the Madrid Masters Tennis Tournament.

In the first quarter-finals of the event, Murray easily defeated Gael Monfils of Spain in straight set 6-2, 6-2 to make his place in the semi-finals where he will face world number two Roger Federer of Switzerland, who stormed past rising Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 6-3, 6-3 in another quarter-finals.

In the third quarter-finals, Rafael Nadal of Spain beat close friend and compatriot Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 6-4.

Nadal will face off for a place in the final when he takes on Frenchman Gilles Simon, who defeated Ivo Karlovic 7-6 (7/1), 4-6, 7-6 (7/2) in the face of 27 aces from the Croatian.
